Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho, has told a Mombasa Court that the Independent electoral and Boundaries Commission did a good job during the August 8th polls despite the Supreme Court nullifying the election.
Testifying in a petition filed by former Mombasa Senator, Hassan Omar, Joho who is also the ODM deputy party leader denied hatching any rigging scheme with the IEBC officers.
The maverick Governor told ..Justice Lydia Achode, who is presiding over the hearing, that he was duly elected after winning by a huge margin against his competitors, including Mr Omar.
“I am the duly elected Governor of Mombasa…The election was free and fair…”
“IEBC did a commendable job, especially in respect to the election of the seat of the Governor in Mombasa County,” Joho stated.
The NASA allied Governor was being cross-examined by Mr Omar’s lawyer, Yusuf Aboubakar, and was re-examined by his lawyer, Mohammed Balala, and IEBC’s advocate, Senior Counsel Paul Nyamodi.
