38 people have been confirmed dead after Patel Dam in Subukia, Nakuru County burst its banks on Wednesday night.
The Red Cross revealed that tens were missing but 39 people had been rescued.
Those who were rescued were rushed to Bahati Sub-County and Nakuru Level 5 Hospitals.
The river bursted it's banks and Floods swept across adjacent villages affecting up to 500 families.
According to red Cross more people are feared death as about 50 people cannot be traced and are still missing.
Governor Lee kinyanjui who visited the families affected maintained that His government is committed to ensuring that everyone is relocated.
"We assure residents that we will do our best to take affected families to safety and help them get medical attention," he wrote.
