Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli’s wife explained why she avoids her husband’s last name when dealing with the public.
Roselinder Simiyu Atwoli, who was currently vying for Webuye West parliamentary seat in last year election said she want people to think that she is vying because of her husband Atwoli who is a powerful figure in kenya.
Atwoli who is the current COTU chairman has said the only position he can vie in Kenya is the presidency that's shows how big the Atwoli name is.
This is how Roseline explained in last year election why she will not use the Atwoli name to campaign.
"In most cases, I have tried to avoid the name of my husband because people will perceive that am leveraging my relation to Atwoli to vie,
“I am the only women currently in the race for this seat and nobody should expect special treatment,” said Simiyu as quoted in the Standard.
Roseline simiyu Ran for the parliamentary seat on her own agenda but unfortunately she did not win in the male dominated race.
She has promised to try again another Time.
