Five Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) Governors have reportedly written to Federal Party of Kenya, requesting to run on its ticket in 2017.
Addressing the press on Wednesday, FPK chairman, Philip Obonyo, said 5 Governors and 35 MPs from CORD have approached FPK requesting to join the party.
Obonyo said most of the y fear that they will be floored during the nominations in CORD and that is why they are looking for plan B.
“We have been approached by several sitting Governors, MPs, Senators and MCAs for tickets to vie in the next elections,” he said.
Obonyo, who is also the Political Parties Registrar liaison committee chairman, said the politicians are from Nyanza, Coast, North Eastern and Western region.
He also said majority are from ODM, Ford Kenya and Wiper Democratic Movement parties.
The revelation is a big blow to CORD leader, Raila Odinga, who has been going around the country begging his supporters not to abandon him and ODM.
