Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has replaced his Deputy Governor, Polycarp Igathe, who resigned on the 31st of January.
In a statement to Nairobians, Sonko said he has appointed John Gakuo as Igathe’s replacement.
He also said that the new DG will do among other things, co-chair Nairobi regeneration committee whose main task is to regain the city’s lost glory.
“H.E Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has appointed Mr. John Gakuo as co-chair of Nairobi regeneration committee whose main task is to regain the city’s lost glory.”
“He will replace immediately Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe,” read the letter.
Gakuo is a former Town Clerk who also served as the County Executive Officer of Environment and Water during former Governor Dr. Evans Kidero.
While resigning, Igathe cited lack of respect between him and Governor Mike Sonko as the reason for his resignation.
