Speaking at Kebirichi secondary school in Nyamira, he dismissed the assertion that the government is conducting a crackdown on opposition leaders, a language the media uses to explain the recent arrests of National Super Alliance (NASA) politicians associated with the swearing-in of Raila Odinga.
"We are a democratically elected government and will not compromise the rule of law at the altar of whims.
"Everything we are doing is within the law because we are a democratically elected government which respects the rule of law, if we did not respect the law we would do otherwise," the CS stated.
He maintained that the country will apply the rule of law firmly and will not negotiate the stability of the country.
"If we negotiate the security of the people, we will be the most irresponsible government," he asserted.
CS Matiang'i warned that the state would continue
arresting and prosecuting such individuals in the best interest of the country.
