Few weeks ago, a letter was doing rounds in social media saying that chief justice maraga has warned all judges not to attempt to attend or be part of NASA swearing in ceremony.
But 2 days ago maraga dismissed the letter and made it clear that he was not part of such a letter.
In a statement to journalists after an event maraga maintained that judiciary has no powers to determine political activities unless it is very necessary.
He also maintained that he has no powers of stopping any judge from attending the event.
“The independence of the Judiciary is sacrosanct that the CJ is not given power to direct the officers on what to do. Anybody saying that I have directed judges and magistrates on what to do, that has not come from me and it will never come from me,” maraga said.
Raila odinga swearing ceremony is scheduled for few weeks from now and he has maintained that he will be sworn In by a judge whose identity is unknown.
