A 28-year-old man walked into Ngong police station and claimed to be a member of a notorious gang in Nairobi that shot two police officers dead in Kibichoi.
Thomas Audi, alias Fireman, on Tuesday turned himself in and said he was part of the gunmen who engaged police in a gun battle for two hours in Witheithie, Juja, on Sunday. Two gangsters were shot dead.
He told police his gang members, who included his slain accomplices, killed the officers to avenge the death of one of their “commanders” who was killed by police in Kayole in May.
Yesterday, detectives from Kiambu DCI further interrogated Audi on his cofession. He is said to have given the police a blow by blow account of their operations, including names and details of other gang members.

Githunguri police chief Kiptoo Barslip said the suspect confessed and agreed to show officers where to find two AK 47 rifles stolen from the slain policemen.
Among the gangsters killed on Sunday was the husband of Nairobi’s pretty faced thug Claire Njoki Kibia.
Claire was gunned down by police in May at Chokaa on Kangundo Road in the company of three other criminals.
Undercover police officers in Kayole, Nairobi, received a message from a colleague that four suspects had escaped their dragnet.
The officers fired in the air, ordering them to surrender, but two who had pistols began firing back. Police killed the two.
The man said to be Njoki’s husband was identified as “Mwani Sparta”.
Officers said the second suspect was known in the criminal world as “Willis” from Kayole.
Police have also obtained video and photographs of the slain gangsters while at a bar armed with a G3 riffle and an AK 47.
Detectives from the Special Crime Prevention Unit have been deployed to hunt for them.
