Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on Friday revealed that holders of various degrees would be targeted in the next phase of police recruitment in a bid to further professionalize the service.
The new cadre of cadet officers will consist of trained experts focused on specific fields.
Among others, police are looking for holders of at least Upper Second Division degrees in ICT, law, medicine, engineering, education and psychology.
Matiang'i stated that professionals would also be recruited to work in the new forensics laboratory in Nairobi
We have established an ultra-modern Crime Research Centre backed with a Forensic Laboratory that needs highly trained professionals that are fully dedicated to the Police Service.
"We are also keen on promoting the officers’ welfare in various areas including their housing to enable them to serve with the assurance that they have decent shelter for their families,” he stated.
