First Lady Margret Kenyatta spoke for the first time yesterday since President Uhuru Kenyatta’s apology to the nation during the State of the Nation Address.
Margret was launching the Menstrual Health Management Programme in Nairobi, where she called for complete solutions to challenges facing women and girls in the country.
She expressed the need for leaders to bury the hatchet for the good of all women in Kenya.
Maggy called for leaders to champion the entrenchment of the rights and dignity of the adolescent girls by ensuring they access basic services, including access to sanitary towels.
“We must remain committed to preserving the rights and dignity of our adolescent girls because ignoring their menstrual hygiene is a violation of their right,” Margret said.
She also called for practical, holistic and cost-effective solutions that would ensure access to clean water
