Matiangi is currently the third most powerful person in the country after uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto.
Matiangi a very powerful and no nonsense cabinet secretary is continuing to gain popularity in the gusii region and leaders have started endorsing him to deputise William Ruto come 2022.
Over the weekend, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi ignited the debate when he said the community should consider backing Matiang'i due to its increasing numbers in terms of voter registration.
"Our number is now big and it is important to go for something big. I am convinced that Matiang'i is fit to take over as deputy president," he said.
There are plans to form a major political party by the larger gusii region to give them more bargaining power ahead of 2022 election.
