KPLC may no longer be the only electricity distributor as more firms apply for licenses
More firms are seeking to connect homes to electricity bringing Kenya Power's role as the main electricity supplier in the country under threat. A local firm PowerGen has applied for a license to generate and supply electricity to households and small-scale business premises according to a gazette notice by the Energy Regulatory Commission this was reported by daily nation.
This means that Kenyans will have many options to choose from thus reducing the prices of electricity.
Currently Kplc controls monopoly thus manipulating Kenyans who don't have an alternative.
Just like mobile service providers ,the entry of new firms into the business will force Kplc to drop prices and improve on service delivery.
