President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga are said to be holding a meeting at Harambee House in Nairobi.
Details are scanty but the two are expected to address the press together at the Office of the President.
State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu said Raila will address reporters before Uhuru and that they will not take questions.
Raila is with people including his daughter Winnie and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, who is the electionals director of Raila's ODM party.
There are indications that he and Uhuru have struck a deal to pull their troops together to deal with the issues Kenya is facing.
Sources say Friday's meeting is a culmination of informal meetings that have been taking place behind the scenes since Raila swore himself in as the 'People's president'.
Following the disputed August 8, 2017 presidential election and the Nasa chief's self-inauguration, there has been pressure for the two leaders to talk.
The United States and other countries called for dialogue after Raila refused to recognise Uhuru as the legitimate President.
