Lawyer files petition to remove chief justice and his deputy

A lawyer has accused Chief Justice David Maraga, his deputy Philomena Mwilu and five members of the Judicial Service Commission of ‘serious violation of the Constitution.’
Adrian Njenga has petitioned the National Assembly and is seeking to have them removed from office for gross misconduct.

He affirmed that the independence of the judiciary has been compromised over the past few months and their is need to make changes in the judiciary.

“The aforementioned have failed to promote and facilitate the independence and accountability of the Judiciary and the transparent administration of justice,” the lawyer says.

Just recently jubilee Secretary general Raphael tuju wrote to the chief justice accusing him of favoring the NASA coalition.

He maintained that the judiciary is biased against the government and cited recent rullings by judiciary including the chief justice failing to comment on the controversial NASA swearing in ceremony.
