Reports on Tuesday revealed that the closed door meeting in his office in Nairobi was to shade light on how the new, yet controversial 2-6-3-3 curriculum that took effect on Tuesday, January 2nd 2018, after a section of teachers ‘unions expressed dissatisfaction, would be implemented.
The ministry has already trained over 170,000 who will help to swear the projects as new implementation and testing of new curriculum is effected.
Matiangi wants Kenyans to move out of the normal 8-4-4 system which has more emphasize on Books and exams rather than emphasizing on practical skills and knowledge which 2-6-3-3 curriculum will offer.
Matiangi is currently in talks with relevant stakeholders on how to role out the new curriculum and problems likely to be encountered in the new program.
