"It is heart breaking and devastating to see what is happening in Kawangware. A night of terror has descended upon us. Kenyans attacking fellow Kenyans in full glare of our police forces meant to protect its citizens. Merciless killings, forceful breakings into homes and violent destruction of property. This is unacceptable and I strongly condemn these acts meant to incite and divide this nation. The videos and images circulating on social media are evidence to support this statement. Buildings have been engulfed by fire and wounded Kenyans are crying for help.
I urgently appeal to the Red Cross, our fire fighters and private arms to respond to these cries and assist our brothers and sisters. I call upon the Cabinet Secretary for Interior Security Fred Matiang'i and the relevant security forces to act swiftly to avert further loss of lives and destruction of property. Security to all Kenyans is a right. We need to draw the line, We need peace. The Good Book commands us that "Thou shall not kill' and to "Love thy neighbour as you love yourself". Let us heed to these.
