Write commentsSGR, whose interest does it serve? Is it an uhuru kenyatta election tool? I am wondering where the goods to be transported on this line will come from, does the wanjiku own factories to transport goods worth this massive white elephant project? If it is built with Uganda and Rwanda in mind then we have missed the point on the investment, the SGR should not be premised on the trade generated by other countries, it should have been built based on our capacity as a country to produce enough goods to export or we are manufacturing enough to export but relying on others to use it and we gain from that is very wrong and misleading. Another fact is that Uganda and Rwanda are building their own SGR through Tanzania to the Daresalaam port. They have avoided Kenya because of rampant corruption and greed from the government officials. Again if we are hoping that the Chinese will use it to bring their goods to the continent of Africa then we shall become the dumping ground of the Chinese goods and our economy will not grow. I see the SGR as a white elephant project which enriched uhuru kenyatta and his friends (business associates) through corruption and inflated costs but of no economic value to the common mwananchi.
