The Standard on Sunday reported its sources in the family revealing that the doctor’s diagnosis that Rosemary had suffered a mild stroke has seen the Odingas reconsider their daughter's entry into elective politics.
The sources have also revealed that the final decision will be announced once Rosemary fully recovered and back from South Africa.
The Odingas are reported to have been in shock at the sudden illness given that their 39-year old daughter had hitherto lived a healthy life.
Some members of the family were concerned that the illness had come shortly after the mother of two started her career in politics.
Rosemary had earlier announced that she would contest for the Kibra Parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket.
“It was a unanimous decision that she be taken away from the pressure of politics. She needed the peace to fully recover and get on with her life. The family considered it more prudent to err on the side of caution,” the anonymous source stated on the decision to fly Rosemary to South Africa.
Rosemary is the second of Raila's four children.
She is also the eldest living child after the death of Fidel in 2015.
