In a statement to news rooms, Marangu Marete cautioned Macharia against polarizing the country.
“Macharia made preposterous allegations to the effect that Raila won the 2007 duel. He claimed he has evidence which he, apparently in his wisdom or lack thereof, didn’t present before the Johann Kriegler Commission,” said Marete yesterday, Tuesday, January 3.
Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga signed a peace accord overseen by Koffi Anan.
He reminded Macharia that the country is going into the next General Election in 8 months and his sentiments might polarize the country again.
Macharia made these allegations while giving his take on the Election Law changes and if IEBC should have manual backup plans in case electronic voting systems fail.
“Kibaki was not the 2007 winner. We tracked the results through satellite phones and as per my record, Raila won,” said Macharia.
