Cord senator who disobied Raila and helped jubilee pass law speaks

Jubilee senators passed the amendments which had been approved by Jubilee MPs in the lower house in acrimonious circumstances.

However, this was largely aided by a section of the opposition senators who supported the Jubilee side.

Among them is Kisii county Senator Chris Obure.

The senator was not in attendance during the special sitting, something that was seen as boycotting the sitting to help Jubilee win.

However, he had early on delegated his voting powers to ODM nominated senator Janet Ong'era.

But on this particular day, Speaker Ekwe Ethuro announced that Obure had instead given his powers to Jubilee nominated Senator Hosea Ochwang'i.

Chris Obure led a delegation of Kisii leaders to State House.

"I authorised Ochwang'i to cast a vote specifically on the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2015. My conscience was clear then and is clear now," Obure said as quoted by Star.

The senator has recently shown rebellion to ODM and is seemingly working with Jubilee.
