Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has asked Cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka to ditch the opposition and join the ruling coalition.

Speaking in Naivasha on Friday during a ceremony to officially open Sunny Hill Resort, Mbugua advised Kalonzo to quit the opposition and safeguard his political future.

"I pity Kalonzo so much, he is the odd one out in the group but he seems not to notice it. He might realise it when it is too late when his relevance as a leader will have faded," he said.

"As it is now, the best thing for him (Kalonzo) to do is to swallow his pride and jump sheep. He is in the wrong company," Mbugua added.

The Nakuru governor said Raila is an 'idler' who is striving to remain relevant in the country's political arena after losing to President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013.

"He is not busy because he was not elected to serve Kenya in any capacity, no wonder he has all the time on the streets engaging our police officers in running battles. The worst part is that he is misusing our youths in the protests," Mbugua said.
