Ababu Namwamba rumoured to be heading to Jubilee Alliance

Ababu Namwamba rumoured to be heading to Jubilee Alliance

– He has been conspicuously missing from all ODM/CORD major events although he is the party secretary general

– He was once accused of being a Jubilee mole and gets funding from the ruling party

– Our source says that Namwamba is known for his appetite for money and would do anything for cash

There is fear among Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) top organs that Budalan’gi MP Ababu Namwamba is preparing to exit the party and join a rival party-most likely Jubilee Alliance Party.

This is comes as the ODM Secretary General skips major party events thus making his colleagues to believe his heart is elsewhere.

Our source claims that Namwamba is struggling to stay in a party he once vehemently defended with his heart and soul.

In 2007, after the 2007 General Election, it is remembered how Namwamba swore to to defend the ideal of ODM and its party leader Raila Odinga.

But in the recent past, Namwamba has taken a back seat compared to his predecessor and current Kisumu Senetor Anyan’g Nyon’go who was so vocal when he was ODM secretary General.

Since the CORD coalition begun their anti-IEBC demonstrations five weeks ago, Namwamba has only participated in one.

Yesterday, on Tuesday, June 7, he however explained his absence saying he had been on paternity leave since his wife gave birth to their third child on April 1, 2016.

“It is purely coincidental that some things happened while I was away,” said Ababu Namwamba as quoted by Edaily.

His explanation came at a time when his loyalty and commitment to both political vehicles were being questioned.

“Time has come for party leader Raila Odinga to take courage and relive Ababu Namwamba of his duties if at all he wants to win the presidency. The SG has been dormant when the party needs him most but instead he has decided to take a low profile,” said Koina Onyancha, a Kisii MCA, as quoted by HiviSasa.

His woes could date back to June 2015 when he was accused of being a mole for the Jubilee coalition by party leader Raila Odinga’s cousin, Jakoyo Midiwo.

The Gem member of Parliament accused Namwamba (Budalangi) of working too closely with President Uhuru Kenyatta considering that he was in the opposition.

In that same month, Namwamba had earlier met with Uhuru and their meeting had culminated in the president releasing money to the Western Kenya leader’s region.

“The interaction with Jubilee leaders was for development and not politics. When people form different parties meet, it does not mean that one of them has abandoned his party, but that leaders have matured enough to close ranks when the lives of Kenyans are at stake,” countered Namwamba.

However, our source claimed that Namwamba had an appetite for money and was willing to do anything to get his hands on it.
