– Former Budalangi MP Raphale Wanjala has told Cord leader Raila Odinga not to attend Moses Wetangula’s presidential bid launch as it would reduce him to a village kingpin. The event, according to Wanjala, would also be used to attack ODM deputy party leader and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya – Wetangula is set to launch his bid on Saturday, April 2 after postponing it twice. Moses Wetangula’s presidential bid launch had faced opposition from some Cord members, especially from western Kenya, forcing him to postpone it twice. Oparanya is said to have frustrated Moses Wentangula’s efforts to hold the event at Kakamega’s historic Muliro Gardens as it could be hijacked to campaign against him. Kamamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, an ally to Wetangula, is eyeing to challenge Opranya in 2017 elections. READ ALSO: How Wetangula’s fight with wife could kill his presidential ambitions – Bukusu However the differences were ironed out in a Cord coalition management board meeting – its top decision-making organ – on March 29. “Leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula agreed at the meeting today that the Kakamega rally will be a CORD affair convened by joint coalition conveners – senators James Orengo (ODM), Johnstone Muthama (Wiper) and MP Simiyu Eseli (Ford Kenya),” read a statement from the coalition. All elected leaders in Cord and affiliated parties have been invited to the function that will see Moses Wetangula kick start his march to State House. Raila and Kalonzo are also eyeing the Cord presidential.
