Reports suggest that Tanzaina President John Magufuli is set to visit Kenya for the first time since he was elected late 2015.
It is said that the Tanzanian Head of State will be attending the 30 anniversary of Raila’s father Jaramogi Oginga memorial service to be held in Bondo.
Magufuli is a longtime political ally to CORD leader Raila Odinga and the reports suggest that he will land at the Kisumu International Airport where he will be hosted by the opposition leader.
When Raila’s son Fidel passed on, Magufuli attended the burial in Bondo while a minister in Jakaya Kikwete’s government. He was representing Kikwete.
He has also been attending important political functions in the country including Raila’s presidential candidature in 2012.
So close are the two politicians that Magufuli was once quoted that if it was possible, he would step down as a Member of Parliament in favour of Raila Odinga.
