Ruto has been in the forefront pushing for harambee stars to qualify for African cup of nation's for the first time in 3 decades.

"Visited Harambee Stars training camp at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi County in a show of solidarity and delivered a goodwill message from Government and Kenyans ahead of the crunch Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia. The boys are in high spirits and raring to go"
DP William Ruto promises Ksh.50M million personal donation to Harambee Stars if they qualify for AFCON 2019 by beating Ethiopia.
If harambee stars Win on Sunday they will have the greatest chance of qualifying for the competition.
Kenya and Ethiopia currently have 4 points.
If Kenya wins they will have 7 points.
