According to his daughter Wamuyu Mahinda Kanyi her father was pronounced dead at Karen Hospital in Nairobi on Wednesday night.
“He has been unwell and we had talked last night but he developed a bad cold. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Karen Hospital,” said Ms Wamuyu as reported by The Daily Nation.
His wife Anne Nyambura Kanyi, mentioned the former leader had was suffering from back problems and had gotten a cold the previous night.
That night the Former Cabinet Minister was rushed to the hospital after being found unconscious.
The body
was moved to Kenyatta National Hospital and then transported to Lee Funeral Home.
Mr Kanyi leaves behind his two wives Agnes Gathoni Kanyi and Anne Nyambura.
Kanyi is well remembered for his contributions to the government during the 1970-1990s.
