I honestly feel for Raila, imagine being him, you meet your deputy Kalonzo at say Intercon in the evening you talk for hours on how to win this thing. He tells you Ukambani iko sawa, you feel confident, you even buy him a glass of watermelon juice and order yourself a double shot of aged whisky. Things look good you think as you high five Kalonzo to winning come August. You drift back into your 35 year old fantasy of State House. Kalonzo is in a hurry, you wonder why but you excuse him anyway after he assures you for the umpteenth time that "ground iko sawa". You order another double to make the fantasy warmer.
10:30 your phone rings, It is Muthama and he has news, his moles at WIPER have told him that Kalonzo has nominated himself a Senator with WIPER.
How? Why? You wonder. The scoundrel just told you you are winning, why then would he... Then it hits you, Kalonzo has no ground, he is feeding you hokum while setting up to be a senator because he knows his Ukambani bloc is not as intact as it used to be. You are losing and it is too late to do anything about it
