A recent survey by an electoral observation group, African Electoral Observation Group, shows that at least 89% of the registered voters will cast their ballot on August 8. This means that 16 million voters of the 19.2 million registered voters will cast their ballot.
The survey further shows that President Uhuru Kenyatta will emerge victorious in the first round with a 51.7% approval rating against Mr Odinga’s 39% approval rating.
In 2013, President Kenyatta beat Mr Odinga by over 800,000 votes after garnering 6,173,433 votes (50.51%) against Mr Odinga’s 5,340,546 (43.7%).
In 2013, 12.3 million registered voters – an equivalent of 86% – cast their ballot.
The African Electoral Observation Group survey further shows that areas perceived as Jubilee strongholds will record higher voter turnout compared to areas perceived as Opposition, NASA, strongholds.
