Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has shocked President Uhuru Kenyatta with his latest demand that may make or break the political marriage between Kikuyu and Kalenjin communities.
This is after he asked Uhuru to write off huge debts owed by Rift Valley farmers just like he did in Central Kenya when he waived all loans owed by coffee farmers.
Speaking in Kabarnet, Baringo County yesterday, Moi, who is
...also the KANU national chairman, commended Uhuru for writing off loans owed by Kikuyu farmers saying he should extend the same to Kalenjins in Rift Valley if he means well for the region.
He noted that most hardworking farmers in Rift Valley had abandoned farming because of the heavy burden of repaying the loans.
“I humbly ask the President to extend the waiver to other regions.”
“What he did during his development tour in Central Kenya is commendable,” said Moi.
